Buying Guide
Find the ring that feels like yours.
A signet ring is a deeply personal piece. From its shape and metal to the detail of its engraving, this guide will help you make each choice with confidence.
Three details. One personal design.
Choose your shape
Explore oval, round, square, rectangular and shield-shaped faces. Each creates a different silhouette and offers its own canvas for personalisation.
Select your metal
Choose from the precious metal options available on your selected ring. Consider colour, finish and the character you want your ring to develop over time.
Make your mark
Add initials, a monogram, a family crest or meaningful artwork. Our engraving options let you choose how your design is expressed in the metal.
Raised or recessed?
Raised engraving leaves the design standing proud of a lowered background, creating a sculptural, textured result.
Recessed engraving cuts the design into the surface of the ring, leaving the surrounding face smooth and polished.
Both styles can produce beautiful results. The best choice depends on your artwork and the finish you prefer.
Ask About EngravingUnderstanding hallmarking.
A hallmark is an independent mark of assurance indicating that a precious-metal item has been tested and meets the relevant legal standard of fineness.
In the UK, qualifying precious-metal jewellery must be hallmarked before being described and sold as gold, silver, platinum or palladium. Some items are exempt because their weight falls below the legal threshold.
Hallmarks are not the same as a maker's engraved design. If you'd like to know which marks to expect on your chosen ring, please ask us before ordering.
Learn About Hallmarks
A few useful things to know.
How do I choose the right ring size?
We recommend having your finger professionally measured before ordering bespoke jewellery. You can also read our Size Guide for practical advice.
Can I use my own crest or artwork?
Yes, you can enquire about a personal design, monogram or family crest. Detailed artwork may require adaptation to suit the shape and dimensions of your chosen ring.
Will my finished ring look exactly like the render?
Product renders help illustrate designs and finishes, but lighting, screen settings and the handcrafted nature of jewellery can result in small visual differences.
